Angela Christlieb studied Video Art and Experimental Filmmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts of Berlin, Germany under Heinz Emigholz and Valie Export. In 1997, she moved to New York with an Emerging Artist grant and began working as an independent filmmaker, producing several shorts. In 1999 she received DAAD (German Academic Exchange Grant) to study film production at the New School to write and produce her first feature documentary CINEMANIA. In 2001 she moved back to Berlin and worked as a freelance editor and camera operator for several independent film and art projects, including: Monika Treut, Christoph Schlingensief, Eve Sussman and the Rufus Corporation. Since 2006 she collaborated with Galerie Tristesse Deluxe, Berlin and the Rufus Corporation, NY.Her new feature, URVILLE premiered in Fall 2009.
